Oliver Queen inherited the reigns of Queen Industries from his father. Smallville Oliver spends little time involved with the day to day operations of the company, wandering the streets at night as Green Arrow, dispensing justice similar to the folk hero Robin Hood. In the episode titled Wither, Smallville Oliver meets Lois Lane and invites her to attend a costume ball hosted by Lex Luthor. In the episode, Queen reunites with Lex Luthor, whom he has not seen since their boarding school days.

Clark, Oliver and Louis
In the following episode, Arrow, Oliver Queen become Green Arrow in both name and deed. After stealing a black market gemstone from Lionel Luthor, Oliver earns the attention of the inquisitive neophyte reporter, Lois Lane. Lois (who refers to the hero as the 'Green Arrow Bandit'), plays true to form and becomes the victim of several unscrupulous businessmen, forcing the Green Arrow and Clark Kent to work together to rescue her. By the end of the episode, Clark and Oliver discover each other's greatest secrets. Smallville Oliver advises Clark that his gifts should be used for the benefit of the entire world, not just for the people that he is close to.

Green Arrow does his chores with the help of high-tech gadgets. His appearance in Smallville helps accelerate Clark on his path to become a true hero. Oliver Green is also the first hero to wear a costume in Smallville.

Justin Hartley, playing Smallville Oliver, was born in 1977, in Illinois. TV audiences knew Justin for his role in Passions. He departed from the soap in 2006 and shot the pilot episode for Aquaman. Even though Aquaman didn't swim, the producers were impressed enough with Hartley that they cast him for seven episodes in Smallville Season 6 as the Green Arrow. Justin will be reprising the role as a series regular starting Season 8.


personal life
Justin met his wife Lindsay while working on Passions and married her in Mary of 2004. Lindsay still is a regular actor on that series. Justin and Lindsay have one child together, Isabella Justice Hartley. She got the name because Lindsay wanted Justin's name in there somewhere, and they did not want 'Justine', because they thought Justine is a first name, more than a middle name.

Have a Robin Hood philosophy; just don't take it too far. Always try to help those less fortunate than you, but remember that stealing is a crime. You should know that there are other ways to help the poor. And for God's sake, don't actually attempt to fight crime with a bow and arrows, because you will either get killed or arrested.
